유영국미술문화재단은 제60회 베니스 비엔날레 병행 전시로 한국 1세대 모더니스트이자 한국 추상 미술의 선구자, 유영국 의 특별전 《유영국: 무한 세계로의 여정》(김인혜 기획)을 개최합니다.

이번 전시는 유영국 작품세계의 중요한 전환점이자 절정기라고 할 수 있는 1960-70년대 작품에 초점을 맞추어, 유기적인 형태에서 점차 이루어지는 기하학적인 형태로의 변화와 실험을 주목합니다. 과감한 원색, 따뜻하고 차가운 색의 미묘하고 풍부한 변주가 유영국의 순수한 추상을 향한 끝없는 여정을 보여줍니다.

퀘리니 스탐팔리아 재단 건물의 총 3개 층에서 개최되는 이 전시에는 유화 30여 점, 판화 14점, 드로잉 8점, 아카이브 자료 40여 점이 전시되어, 유영국의 삶과 예술을 압축적이고 핵심적으로 소개할 것입니다.

《무한 세계로의 여정》은 작년 뉴욕 페이스 갤러리에서의 개인전 이후 유영국의 작품이 서구권에 소개되는 두 번째 전시이자 유럽에서 개최되는 첫 개인전입니다. 

Yoo Youngkuk Art Foundation is pleased to announce a special exhibition of Yoo Youngkuk, a pioneer of Korean abstract art and a key figure of Korean avant-garde, "A Journey to the Infinite: YOO YOUNGKUK," curated by Inhye Kim as a collateral event of the 60th Venice Biennale.

This exhibition sheds light on the pivotal period of the 1960s and 1970s in Yoo's artistic journey, highlighting the transition from organic forms to geometric shapes and experimentation. Bold primary colors and subtle variations in warm and cool tones showcase the artist's endless exploration of pure abstraction.

Held across three floors of the Palazzo Querini Stampalia, the exhibition features over 30 oil paintings, 14 prints, 8 drawings, and around 40 archival materials, providing a condensed and essential introduction to Yoo's life and art.

"A Journey to the Infinite" is not only Yoo Youngkuk's second exhibition in the Western art scene since his solo show at the Pace Gallery in New York last year but also his first solo exhibition in Europe.
